Greetings
I represent Darlene DeLay a NL native from St. John. Darlene has established herself as children and family performer in the NY Metro area. Over the past five years she has become a name of great respect in schools, libraries, child care centers, institutions of family performance and festivals here. She performs as a solo act and with various band combinations. Darlene’s work is deeply influenced by her Newfoundland musical roots. She seeks the opportunities to share her energetic music with the children and families of Newfoundland.
Darlene was
educated in NL at Memorial University’s Music School, graduating in 1999. She
performed as part of Le Ceile Folk Trio from 1993 – 2000 with fellow
Newfoundland musicians. Was an actress at Spirit of Newfoundland Theater
1998-2000. Darlene was a music educator in the schools and camps of NL from
1997-2000. One of her first professional jobs was J&B Schooners Boat Tours
as on board entertainer and deck hand. She is proud of her home.
She moved to the United States in 2000. Today she is a mother of 3. Darlene taught music in the schools of Long Island New York. With her 2nd child she moved full time to performing for children and family audiences. Noted for her energy and ability to read any audience she makes every person in the crowd think she is singing to them. She has released a CD “Everybody Dance” and is currently developing another CD. Darlene performs more then 300 shows and classes per year in a solo and band format. You may see and hear more about her current work by going to the web. I encourage you to visit her EPK: http://packardcreative.com/dg and web site: http://darlenegrahammusic.com
I know
Darlene as a client, but also, in my capacity as the Theater Manager for the
Long Island Children’s Museum Theater. It is my responsibility to identify exceptional
artists to perform for our family audiences. LICM boasts many new artists to our
credit, Darlene included. LICM presents more than 130 performances per year
for children, their parents, grandparents, neighbors and friends. I have had
the pleasure of working with Darlene since 2007 and always delight in her
performances, as do our audiences. She has performed more than 20 times at
LICM in the past 5 years. She has a dedicated audience of families. Most recently
she contributed to LICM’s Family Theater show of “Goldilocks and the Three
Bears” by writing and recording the original music for the production.
Darlene is very proud of her roots and talks often about her life in Newfoundland and the rich musical heritage she is so grateful to have. I know she would love the opportunity to return home to perform, reenergize, be with family and share once again with her musical collaborators of Newfoundland. I encourage you to reach out and embrace this native who loves her home so much. You can reach me for more details with the information below to discuss any possibilities or people you suggest we should contact.
Best
Regards,
